On 8/8/13 TSA-NYHV Youth Ambassadors Camerin Figueroa and Ben Tamarin (along with parents Jocelyn Figueroa, Sharon Hammer and Megan Ouderkirk) answered questions about TS on the Dr. Wodka Radio Show WTBQ, Warwick, NY, 8/8/13. The radio station estimated listeners of 3,000-5,000.

On 9/23/13 TSA-NYHV Youth Ambassador Benjamin Tamarin was honored to speak about the positive impact that the TSA has had on his life to the audience of 350 guests who attended the Jones Lang LaSalle Golf and Tennis Classic Dinner a the Westchester Country Club in Rye, New York.

On 10/6/13 TSA-NYHV Youth Ambassadors Julia Gottlieb, Josh Wachtenheim, Jack Klion, Camerin Figueroa and Ben Tamarin (and their parents) gathered at Jack Klion’s house to stuff envelopes for a mailing to 175 schools in Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Putnam Counties in an effort to promote the TSA Youth Ambassador Program in conjunction with National Anti-bullying Month.

On 10/29/13 TSA-NYHV Youth Ambassador Camerin Figueroa presented to Cub Scout den 273 in Bullville NY. There were about 10 scouts and 10 parents and siblings. It went well.

On 11/7/13 TSA-NYHV Youth Ambassadors Jack Klion and Ben Tamarin presented to an adult audience of 90 faculty and staff members at Springhurst Elementary School in Dobbs Ferry, New York.

On 11/18/13 Ben and Jack were invited back to present to the one hundred 5th graders at Springhurst Elementary School.

On 12/16/13 Camerin Figueroa presented to Minisink High School’s Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) in Slate Hill, New York. Attending the presentation were 23 students and 5 staff members (1 administrator, 1 social worker, 1 school psychologist and the two art teachers who run the Gay Straight Alliance). The presentation was very well received by the GSA — an anti-bullying group.

12/ 13,/2013 TSA-NYHV conducted a staff development session which combined a Y.A. Presentation by Julia Gottlieb and an In-Service Presentation by Helene Walisever at 7 Bridges Middle School in Chappaqua, N.Y. The combined YA presentation/in-service to 45 middle and high school teaching assistants was a big success. Staff members really enjoyed the opportunity to speak directly with a student and posed many “hard questions.” After the presentation, Helene Walisever commented, “This is the first time I’ve collaborated in this way with a YA, and I think it’s way more powerful than the standard in-service. I will definitely try to do these as a matter of course.” The Administrators requested a repeat of this collaborative presentation for school clinicians and guidance counselors on March 7, 2014, and are planning to schedule a Y. A. Peer Presentation for Chappaqua students in the future.

During the months of November and December 2013, Y.A. Ben Tamarin assisted TSA-NYHV Board members in interviewing candidates who applied to attend the Youth Ambassador Training in March, 2014.
